You may not need every item everytime, but if it’s all on the list, you never forget it when you need it.

1 – I like to eat regularly when I’m out in the cold. It keeps me warm and energized. I keep a few snacks in the pockets of my ski pants so I can munch during transitions – taking off skins at the top of a run or putting on skins at the bottom – and when we stop to dig a pit, check maps or discuss our route and conditions. If the food is handy, I’m more likely to get a few bites in during these stops.
