Five Seven Zero, a WI4 ice climbing route near the Icefields Parkway, poses challenges due to its lack of trails and long approach. After a difficult first attempt, our second attempt at the climb was more successful thanks to better navigation. The route features three pitches, and we anticipate returning to climb it again in…

On March 7, 2026, we explored the Cline River Gallery ice climbing, enjoying top rope laps on several steep routes. Although we aimed for the popular Pure Energy route, it was occupied. The site featured fun climbs and a well-marked approach, making it an enjoyable experience. We’d love to return.

Dan and I climbed End of the Line, a popular WI4 multi pitch in David Thompson Country. The approach through a narrow canyon is a highlight!

In March 2026, Dan and I climbed SARS on Ice, a large curtain of WI3 and WI4 lines. We got a lot of top-rope mileage on steep ice because we were able to lead an easier line and set up a top rope from a tree anchor.

On March 3, 2026, Dan and I climbed Nightmare on Elm Street, a single pitch WI3 along the Cline River. It is across the river from the main Cline River Gallery ice climbs and is accessed from a different trailhead.

On February 8, 2026, Dan and I hiked up Owen Creek to look for ice climbing in a narrow canyon. We found some great ice climbing not far from the road. We accessed the climbs from above, lowering into the narrow canyon from tree anchors.

On February 3, 2026, Dan and I climbed Lovely Parting Gifts, a WI3 in David Thompson Country. We climbed this 65 meter ice in one long pitch and descended with 2 rappels. We should have brought our 2 60-meter ropes instead of the single 70!

On February 26, 2025, we climbed Isaac’s Wet Dream, a wide, single pitch in David Thompson Country. We hiked to the top and rappelled down to the bottom, setting up a top rope. The ice was very wet but we enjoyed the steepness of the climbing.
