Hidden Lake Expedition

Hidden Lake is a lovely alpine lake in Banff National Park. It is located about 9 km from the Fish Creek Trailhead near Lake Louise Ski Resort. A nearby backcountry campground provides the perfect base camp for a few days of scrambling.

We did this trip in August 2024. It was a great time of year to go, very little snow up high and warmer nights for sleeping. In the Canadian Rockies, at higher elevations, you can expect to wake up with frost on your tent in any month of the year. This trip we certainly did. But from mid-July to early September, you have the best chance of avoiding the frost and sleeping warm.
