
On February 12, 2025, we skied towards Chester Lake in Kananaskis, seeking good snow slopes. Despite the cold, we enjoyed a scenic trek. After assessing the snow conditions on potential slopes, we chose not to ski due to unfavorable conditions but appreciated the beautiful surroundings. We plan to return.

On February 11, 2025, we skied Tryst Lake Chutes, enjoying a challenging day in cold weather. Although it was very cold, the trail had many switchbacks and the slope was scary-steep, it was a lot of fun. The day marked a personal breakthrough in backcountry skiing, inspiring plans for future visits.

Last Tuesday, January 7, we climbed at King Creek. There are three main flows with climbs rated WI2 and WI3. We climbed the WI3 that is further up the creek and around the corner from the first two areas.

On March 10, 2024, we climbed the first pitch of Cobra Verde in Kananaskis Country. The approach was challenging because of the deep snow and no established trail, but the climbing was worth it. The climb is rated WI3 with a multi-pitch option.

Blue Cheese ice climb is a single-pitch, wide curtain of WI3. It is possible to walk up to the bolts at the top with rappel rings and set up a top rope anchor. The approach involves a 3 km hike. There are 3 or 4 different lines possible across the ice curtain.

Oliver Twist ice climb is a single-pitch, WI3 in Kananaskis, Alberta. It is not very high and the approach is long in deep snow conditions.
